The National Railway Historical Society, Washington, D.C. Chapter, Inc. presents

The Florida Special

Friday, March 17, 2017 to Thursday, March 23, 2017

Make your winter escape South this year an adventure in style and comfort the way it was done for decades – Go Pullman! Travel first-class to Florida aboard the classic 1930s sleeper-lounge rail car Dover Harbor for an extended 7-day get-away!
Your journey departs Friday evening, March 17th from Washington, D.C. with Amtrak's Silver Meteor. Enjoy dinner and cocktails served by your white-jacketed Porter as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in fine style aboard our green time machine.  Then relax in the lounge for a cocktail, conversation, or a good book as our train rockets south through Virginia and into North Carolina. Later, settle into your comfy Pullman bed and let the rhythm of the rails rock you to sleep.
In the morning, as we arrive in Florida, the Sunshine State, enjoy breakfast freshly prepared in our kitchen as we roll through palm trees and orange groves to your choice of destination. Take photos from the lounge or the vestibule. Right after lunch there's Orlando where you may detrain for a visit with Mickey.  Or continue on as we'll call at the Atlantic Coast cities of Fort Lauderdale and the sun worshippers capital of Miami.

Whatever destination you choose, you'll have several days to enjoy sandy beaches, warm waters, and attractions of America's winter getaway state!  Miami passengers may stay with us aboard our Classic Pullman in the city or get away to a hotel of your own choosing.

Our return adventure begins late-morning March 22nd as Dover Harbor departs Miami behind Amtrak's Silver Star. Refreshed from your winter respite, lunch will be served as we roll north and dinner after Orlando. Enjoy a casual evening relaxing in the spacious lounge, then curl up for a cozy sleep in your authentic Pullman berth. Awaken to breakfast and the springtime scenery of the Carolinas as we travel the Star's inland route. Lunch will also be served prior to amid-afternoon arrival in Washington, D.C.
