CHANGES ANNOUNCED FOR NATIONAL DUES PROCESSING - WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR DCNRHS MEMBERS?

The NRHS has announced that by 2016, all NRHS membership services will be handled electronically using a new on-line system.   With this change, National will no longer process local chapter dues/renewals.  While there are many details we don't yet know, there's one thing we're quite certain of: we value all our members, and welcome your continued membership in DCNRHS, whether renewed electronically or by mail.

Early indications are that the change will have a significant impact, both for members and for local chapters. Previously, National provided dues renewal mailings for chapters as part of its membership services. Going forward, each local chapter will be responsible for handling its own dues collection. This will increase the number and cost of mailings that the chapters will need to do. That's because part of the savings realized by National will be achieved by shifting costs to the local chapters.

DCNRHS established an on-line renewal process in 2011, and we urge members to take advantage of that process in order to help keep our costs down.  As we gear up for the change, we are also taking the opportunity to implement some additional features that members have requested, and which we believe will make the local chapter renewal process easier. This is expected to include family membership bundling and streamlined membership categories.

These change will be phased in during the 2015 renewal cycle (beginning fall 2014), and we will provide additional detail as we get closer to renewal time.  In the meantime, if you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us.
