posted Jun 21, 2012, 9:44 PM by James Lilly
We are proud to announce that DCNRHS is the recipient of a $4,200.00 Railway Heritage Grant from the National Railway Historical Society as announced by NRHS at the 2012 NRHS Convention on 21 June. This prestigious Grant will be applied to our Digital D.C. Railroad Heritage Project. The Digital D.C. Railroad Heritage Project is a multi-part effort of our Library Committee consisting of: 1) An online museum of Washington, D.C. region's railroad history; 2) An online process to submit and identify images and data of potential historical value for railroading; 3) An e-commerce function whereby customers may purchase select copies. On receiving news of the grant Jim Lilly said "Winning this grant is just another demonstration of how our vibrant organization is growing and continuing our transformation journey." DCNRHS has also agreed to share lessons learned from this project with other Railway Heritage Organizations. If you would like to volunteer to work on this project or have material you may be willing to share, please contact us.
