Rare Photograph of Collinsville Inn Found

One of our members recently found a 2" b&w negative of the Collinsville Inn, our 1949 Pennsylvania Passenger car that we are working to restore.  This is a real find as we have never seen the photograph before of the car and have little photographic record of that period when it was in service in its original configuration as a sleeper. The photographer and location are unknown, though it appears to be in a railyard or station and to be taken from an overhead walkway.  Note the baggage cart in the picture and the other PRR cars around it.

Trains Magazine recognized the significance of the Collinsville Inn with its prestigious 2012 Preservation Award.

DCNRHS is currently working to restore the Collinsville Inn to service.  We need your help to raise about $25,000 this year to finish the job and restore this symbol of the Iconic Pennsylvania Railroad to mainline rails of America for excursion service.  For more information about the project, and to make a gift, see the Collinsville Inn project page.  Thank you.
