The National Railway Historical Society, Washington, D.C. Chapter, Inc. (DCNRHS) presents The New Yorker – A Railfan Adventure on Franklin Inn Saturday, October 13, 2012 to Sunday, October 14, 2012 Take Manhattan by storm for a two-day fall getaway aboard Franklin Inn, our newly restored mid-Century Pennsylvania Railroad Coach (photo on right). Reminiscent of our innovative, fun, price-friendly trips in the 1950s and 1960s, this journey is part of our “Railfan Adventure Series.” After an early morning departure from Washington Union Station sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery, as our Amtrak train carries us north to the Big Apple. Make new friends with your fellow passengers as we race along Amtrak’s high-speed Northeast Corridor to a late morning arrival. Spend an Autumn Saturday in New York: see Broadway shows; shop til you drop at Macy’s, Bloomingdales, or Saks; sightsee at the Statue of Liberty, the heights of the Empire State Bldg. (photo to left), or luminous Times Square; see rail sights like fabulous Grand Central Terminal, and enjoy the “City that Never Sleeps.”Stay overnight in a hotel of your own choosing and then enjoy additional time in Manhattan before our return trip departs southward at mid-afternoon on Sunday. Reminisce about your weekend adventures as our train travels across the meadows of New Jersey, rolls through Philadelphia, and sails across the Susquehanna River to Baltimore and an early evening arrival back in Washington, DC. Light snacks/drinks will be available on both legs of the trip. ROUND TRIP FARES: Washington/Baltimore to New York NY DCNRHS Members: $75 Nonmembers: $95 Child (ages 2-15): $75
