The Night Owl

Fourth of July Weekend, Thursday, July 2, 2015 to Monday, July 6, 2015

Join the Washington DC Chapter as it recreates a classic railroading experience‑‑ traveling overnight in a Pullman berth.  Our trip back in time travels the Pennsylvania/New Haven Railroads' Night Owl route from Washington D.C. to Boston.

Your trip aboard our grand Pullman, Dover Harbor, departs Thursday evening July 2nd from Washington, DC's Union Station with Amtrak Regional train #66.  Your Pullman porter will attend your every need including a late evening nightcap in the car's comfortable lounge.  Then snuggle into your authentic Pullman berth as our train glides through the night.  Photos and historical information for Dover Harbor can be found at

The next morning, greet the day with a continental breakfast when you awake.  After an early morning arrival at Boston's South Station, you'll have the next three days to visit the many neighborhoods of Beantown.  Walk the Freedom Trail to see the city's historic sites including famed Old North Church.  Ride the 'T' to Cambridge, home of Harvard University, or head to the waterfront to Quincy Market, the Long Wharf, and the Boston Aquarium. On Saturday evening head to the Esplanade to watch one of our nation’s premier Fourth of July fireworks displays.

During our stay in Boston, passengers may enjoy one of the privileges of private rail car travel‑‑ that of bringing your hotel with you.  Guests will be permitted to sleep aboard Dover Harbor, during the weekend stay at Boston's South Station.

Dover Harbor takes leave of Boston on Sunday evening, July 5th with Amtrak's Regional train #67 for our return adventure.  Dream sweet dreams as our train passes along coastal New England's small towns and villages.  Awake back in Washington where, in the tradition of the Night Owl, passengers may remain aboard the car after an early morning arrival in Washington until 8:00AM.

All passengers may enjoy the comforts of Dover Harbor's lounge.  Sleeping accommodations on this trip are Dover Harbor's Classic Pullman Double Bedrooms, which sleep two persons in an upper and lower berth.  Each bedroom has a washbasin and toilet.  A shower is available to all.
