THE PIEDMONT LIMITED--from Washington DC (Options 1, 2 & 3): The adventure begins at Union Station in the early evening on Wednesday, October 11th with Amtrak’s southbound Crescent. Visit with your fellow passengers while savoring cocktails and dinner prior to a night’s slumber in a classic Pullman double bedroom. The next morning, an early breakfast will be available. If you choose Atlanta as your destination (Option 3), you’ll have four full days on your own to explore this historic and cultural center of the New South. The return train departs Atlanta mid-evening on Sunday, October 15th with dessert and a digestif prior to bedtime. Awaken for a full breakfast prior to arrival in Washington at mid-Monday morning. For a longer Pullman trip, continue to New Orleans (Options 1 & 2) with the THE SOUTHERNER, to enjoy the delights of this trip’s terminus—the Crescent City.
THE SOUTHERNER—from Gainesville GA (Options 4 & 5): Step aboard 1930’s Pullman, Dover Harbor for a special round trip ride from Gainesville, GA, Queen City of the Mountains and home of General Longstreet to the Crescent City, New Orleans. Depart from Gainesville’s historic depot at 7:00AM on Thursday, October 12th as the car comes southbound with Amtrak’s Crescent. You’ll be greeted with a hot breakfast, and secret recipe Bloody Marys. As the train travels through the Deep South, nosh on lunch, and later, a freshly prepared dinner by our chef and served by your Pullman porters. Your train sails across Lake Ponchartrain to an evening arrival in New Orleans. The return trip leaves early on Sunday morning, October 15th. The full day journey with brunch and supper plus always available liquid refreshments traverses the homeland of many of the troops who served with the general in the famous First Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia from ’62 to ’65. You’ll return to Gainesville mid-evening. In New Orleans, all activities and lodgings will be on your own (Option 4). Or for additional fare, book accommodations to stay in one of the four classic double rooms with upper and lower berth on board the car right in New Orleans Union Terminal (Options 2 or 5). Conditions 1. The Washington D.C. Chapter, NRHS makes every effort to accommodate the physically challenged; however, Dover Harbor as a historic railroad car is not wheelchair accessible. Operator requires those physically challenged passengers requiring special assistance from others to travel with someone who is able to assist them. Those with special dietary needs such as food allergies must notify the reservations agent in writing at least two weeks in advance of the trip departure. 2. No refund or credit of purchased tickets after September 5, 2017 other than by operator's cancellation of the trip or reselling of the space. The operator suggests that passengers obtain trip insurance to cover cancellations resulting from personal emergencies, illness or other causes. 3. Package does not include gratuities, personal incidental charges, tours, admissions, local transportation , accommodations, or meals except while en route and aboard Dover Harbor as described above. 4.
