We invite you to join us at the National Railway Historical Society, Washington, D.C. Chapter's 75th on March 31st at the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia. You won't want to miss it. 

This going to be a celebration like the Chapter has never seen before, as it should be, as it we highlight the Chapter's accomplishments and contributions over the last 75 years.   There will be a digital slide show, lobby displays about Chapter projects, and displays of historical artifacts and photographs.  Attendees will receive a souvenir ticket, two giveaways, and a commemorative 30 page program that highlights the programs of the Chapter over the last 75 years. 

As we celebrate the founding of our organization in 1944, we remember the contributions of our service men and women and the railroads to our victory in World War II and to the strength of our nation. Attendees with military uniforms or vintage railroad uniforms are encouraged to wear them to  our gala.   If you don't have one dress is business attire with black tie optional. 

The evening begins with a social hour at 6:00 PM with a cash bar, followed by a 3 course plated dinner served at your seat. Dinner includes salad,  SALMON AND STEAK as the entree (you get both), and dessert.  A vegetarian entree is also available. After dinner there will be a few presentations and the annual presentation of Chapter awards.

The keynote will be given by Mr. John Hankey who will speak to "1944 Washington, D.C. - The World that Created the Chapter"  Beyond photographs of trains and structures, John captivates his audience by also injecting a sense of the people, history, culture, social, and political atmosphere of the era. John Hankey brings 50 years of experience and perspective to the field of Railway History and Heritage. He is a Baltimore native and spent many years with the B&O Railroad as its Historian and Curator, and in Engine Service as a working railroader. John trained as a Historian at Johns Hopkins, the University of Delaware, and the University of Chicago. He also is a longstanding friend and supporter of the Chapter and uniquely qualified to place our 75th Anniversary into a larger context.
