Orange Blossom Special

The National Railway Historical Society, Washington, D.C. Chapter, Incorporated presents the

Orange Blossom Special

Friday, March 18, 2011 to Wednesday, March 23, 2011

Take an early break from the cold winter and
travel to Florida aboard the classic 1930’s Pullman sleeper-lounge car Dover Harbor for an extended weekend get-away!

Your journey departs Friday evening, March 18th from Washington, D.C. with Amtrak’s Silver Meteor. Enjoy dinner served by your white-jacketed Porter as our train rockets south through Virginia and into North Carolina.

Settle into your comfy Pullman bed and let the rhythm of the rails rock you to sleep. In the morning as we arrive in Florida, the Sunshine State, enjoy breakfast freshly prepared in our kitchen as we roll through palm trees and orange groves to your choice of destination. Right after lunch there’s Orlando where you may detrain for a visit  with Mickey.

Later at early evening we’ll call at the Atlantic Coast cities of Fort Lauderdale and the sun worshippers capital of Miami.

Whatever destination you choose, you’ll have a weekend’s worth of days to enjoy sandy beaches, warm waters, and attractions of America’s winter getaway state!

Our return adventure begins late-morning March 22nd as Dover Harbor departs Miami behind Amtrak’s Silver Star. Refreshed from your winter respite, enjoy lunch as we roll north; after Orlando, dinner and a casual evening relaxing in the spacious lounge. After a refreshing night of sleep in your authentic Pullman berth, enjoy breakfast and the springtime scenery of the Carolinas as we travel the Star’s inland route. Lunch will also be served prior to mid-afternoon arrival in Washington.
